## In short

Please donate to the Hunger Crisis Appeal so we can get emergency food to families after floods and earthquakes in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. Give by card on this page. £25 can fund a food parcel for a family of five for three weeks. Your gift becomes rice, lentils and oil in someone’s hands.

Please donate. Disaster hunger does not end when the cameras leave.

## At a glance

- £25: Typical emergency food parcel for a family of five for three weeks
- 48 hrs: Partners aim to start food distributions after trustee approval
- Staples: Rice, lentils, oil and flour bought locally
- Emergency only: Not a long-term feeding programme or farm subsidy

## What is the Hunger Crisis Appeal?

The Hunger Crisis Appeal raises money for emergency food after disasters in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. Please donate today. When floods take a harvest or an earthquake shuts a market, hunger follows. Your gift becomes a parcel of staple food.

A family can lose a house in an afternoon and still be hungry three months later. The rice store is gone. The field is under water. The market cannot open. Children ask for food. That wait is where your donation matters.

Please give to the Hunger Crisis Appeal. This is not a general anti-poverty programme and not an agricultural recovery fund. It is emergency food for families affected by disaster, which is what our charitable Objects allow.

You do not have to pack tins. The most useful thing you can do tonight is donate. A gift of £25 can fund a food parcel for a family of five for three weeks. Please give what you can.

## Why does hunger follow a flood or earthquake?

Disaster destroys kitchens, harvests and markets. People who had food last week have none this week. Please donate so a parcel of rice, lentils and oil reaches them. Hunger after a disaster is not a different country. It is the same family, later.

The cameras show water in the street. They rarely show the empty pot six weeks on. A drowned field does not grow a winter crop. A cracked shop does not sell flour. Partners buy staples nearby so a damaged town still has a customer and a family still has a meal.

Please do not wait for a famine headline. Give now to the Hunger Crisis Appeal so a child is not left without food because the flood story has moved on.

## How can I donate to the Hunger Crisis Appeal?

Please give on this page by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. £25 can fund a three-week food parcel for a family of five. Give more if you can, or less if that is what you have. A monthly gift means the next flood does not find the food fund empty.

Use the form beside this appeal. Keep this appeal selected. That gift is your donation to the Hunger Crisis Appeal. We will turn it into staple food bought close to the people who need it.

If your mosque, church, workplace or friends are collecting, gather what you can and donate it here. Please do not post food from the UK unless a partner has asked in writing. Local rice and oil arrive sooner and match what people cook.

## What food does an emergency parcel contain?

Parcels typically hold staples suited to local cooking: rice, lentils or chickpeas, cooking oil, flour and salt. If cooking is impossible in the first hours, partners may use ready-to-eat rations. Please donate so those staples can be bought.

A standard parcel is designed to sustain a family of five for about three weeks. In a longer crisis, distributions repeat until markets work again. We do not fund school feeding or farm inputs from this appeal.

Please give. The contents follow what a family can cook where they are — not a British shopping list.

- Rice, lentils or chickpeas, oil, flour, salt — Long-term farm recovery or seed programmes
- About three weeks for a family of five — School feeding or a national nutrition scheme
- Ready-to-eat rations only when cooking is impossible — Parcels of tins posted from the UK

## Why do you buy food locally instead of shipping it from the UK?

Local rice and oil arrive sooner, cost less, and match what people cook. A parcel of tins from Britain usually arrives late. Please donate money on this page. That is how a shopkeeper in a damaged town still has a customer.

Buying nearby is faster, and it is kinder. Please give money rather than food from home unless a partner has asked for a specific item in writing.

## Why can children not wait for the next fundraising drive?

A few days without food after a flood is how malnutrition starts. Pregnant women and older people cannot wait either. Please donate so this fund sits ready rather than launching after the news cycle.

Partners aim to start distributions after trustee approval when disaster-driven hunger is confirmed. Money already given still shortens the wait. Please give today.

## What will my donation to the Hunger Crisis Appeal provide?

Your donation pays for emergency food. £10 can cover a week of basic supplies. £25 can cover a three-week parcel for a family of five. £50 can cover two families. Please give what you can. Figures are typical partner costs.

Please choose an amount and donate. What a household receives depends on where they are and what they need that week. That is the promise of this appeal. You give. We turn your money into food for people who have lost a harvest or a kitchen.

- £10 — a week of basic food supplies for a disaster-affected family
- £25 — an emergency food parcel for a family of five for three weeks
- £50 — food packages for two families for three weeks
- £100 — food for five displaced families through the critical weeks
- £250 — food distributions for 10 families over an emergency period
- £500 — food for 20 disaster-affected families

## How does my food donation reach a family?

You donate. Trustees release funds when disaster-driven hunger is confirmed. Local partners buy food and distribute it. We do not send cash to individuals. Please donate so partners can buy the next load of rice.

If you want to give in memory of someone, or as a group, write to info@worldaidnetwork.org and we will mark the gift for the Hunger Crisis Appeal.

## How quickly will my donation become a meal?

Card donations are processed straight away. Partners aim to start food distributions within about forty-eight hours of trustee approval. Cut roads take longer. Your gift still means a family can eat without waiting for a new campaign.

Please donate today — once, or every month — so the next family is not left hungry while the world organises a response.

## How can I donate emergency food from the UK?

Please donate money on this page by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. A card gift from Britain buys food where the disaster is. That is kinder and faster than a parcel of tins. Give once, or give every month.

If you want a broader disaster gift covering water and shelter as well, use the Emergency Floods Appeal. Use this page if you want your gift marked for food. Please give what you can.

## Can I give monthly to the Hunger Crisis Appeal?

Yes — a monthly donation means the next flood does not find the food fund empty. Please set up a regular gift on this page. Even a small monthly amount helps partners keep parcels funded. You can also give in memory of someone you love.

Please start a monthly gift at the amount that is comfortable for you. You can change it later. If you would rather give once, that gift is welcome too. Donate today.

## Is this a long-term food aid programme?

No. It is emergency food for disaster-affected families. Farm recovery, school feeding and ongoing food security sit outside our Objects. Please donate if you want a parcel in someone’s hands after a flood or quake.

Both jobs matter. They are not the same job. Please give to this page if you want emergency staples after disaster. Support another charity if you want agricultural development.

## How is this different from the Floods and Earthquake Appeal?

The Floods Appeal covers food, water and shelter together. The Hunger Crisis Appeal is restricted to emergency food so donors who want their gift to buy meals can say so. Please donate to the page that matches how you want to help.

You do not need to give twice unless you want to. A gift on either page can still feed a family after disaster. Please give if you are able.
