FROM IDEA TO EVENT

How do we start a fundraiser?

  1. Choose your cause

Select eye surgery, cancer care or a current emergency appeal. Agree any country, project or patient restriction with WAN before announcing it.

  2. Request your fundraising page

Tell us the organiser, activity, dates, target and programme. Pages are reviewed by staff before publication. Check the approved link before sharing.

  3. Prepare and promote

Choose an accessible activity, budget for costs and check permissions. Adapt the templates and give people a clear, voluntary way to take part.

  4. Reconcile and thank

Record money received, costs, transfers and unpaid pledges separately. Report the financial result; share care or relief outcomes only when verified.

CHOOSE A PURPOSE

Which appeal can our team support?

Gift of Sight

Your contribution supports the eye-surgery programme. Local doctors provide care, with visiting specialist support for training and clinical review.

Read the gift of sight information

Cancer care

Your contribution supports access to clinically recommended cancer care through local providers. Individual treatment plans and costs vary.

Read the cancer care information

Emergency relief

Choose a current emergency appeal and read its purpose before donating. Relief plans depend on local needs, access and available funding.

Read the emergency relief information

Around £200 is a cataract-surgery planning estimate supplied to WAN by Mr Mohamed Mohyudin. Costs depend on assessment, the provider and the care required. It is not a fixed price or a guarantee of a completed operation or result. A fundraising target is a financial goal; it is not a count of completed operations or people helped. Read how donations are used.

READY TO ADAPT

What should we say in our invitations?

These drafts are also in the Word file. Replace every bracketed field, check the appeal purpose and link, and agree any matching or special restrictions before publishing. The matching example does not announce a live offer.

WORKPLACE FUNDRAISING

How can employers take part?

A team walk, skills session or coffee morning gives colleagues a shared activity. Include remote colleagues and offer a non-physical way to join. Employer support can include a venue, agreed volunteering time or a financial contribution.

For matching, record the sponsor’s legal name, amount matched per pound, eligible gifts, dates and time zone, total cap, verification process and payment date. Keep unpaid pledges separate from received money.

COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING

What should organisers check?

Name an organiser, plan access and first aid, check venue permission and insurance, and disclose event costs. Check the rules for collections, raffles, food or other regulated activities before promoting them.

Use “in aid of World Aid Network” for an independent fundraiser. Do not imply WAN runs or insures it unless agreed. Keep participation voluntary and use identifiable people in images or stories only with informed permission.

How should we handle funds and updates?

Prefer your approved fundraising page so gifts reach WAN directly. For offline donations, agree the collection method and payment reference first, use secure custody and keep receipts. Where possible, two people should count cash and sign the record. Do not send cash by post or publish sponsor sheets.

Separate donations received, approved costs, amounts transferred, direct online gifts and matching still pledged. Avoid counting a cash donation again when it is paid into an online page. Your thank-you update can report funds; treatment or relief outcomes need verified programme records.

World Aid Network is a UK charitable organisation applying for CIO registration. Gift Aid is not currently available; future claims require HMRC recognition and eligibility checks. Check current registration status and read our privacy information.

Frequently asked questions

Is this fundraising pack free?

Yes. You can download the guide, appeal posters, fillable event poster and editable Word templates without creating an account.

Can I use the posters for my workplace or community event?

Yes. The appeal posters are ready to print. Use the fillable event poster for your own activity, complete every field and agree campaign details with WAN. The supplied QR codes lead to public appeal pages and do not attribute donations to your individual fundraiser.

Does £200 guarantee a cataract operation?

Around £200 is a cataract-surgery planning estimate supplied to WAN by Mr Mohamed Mohyudin. Costs depend on assessment, the provider and the care required. It is not a fixed price or a guarantee of a completed operation or result.

Can my employer match donations?

An employer can discuss a matching commitment. Do not advertise it until the sponsor, rate, eligible gifts, dates, total cap and payment terms are agreed in writing and the wording is approved.

Can supporters claim Gift Aid?

Gift Aid is not currently available; future claims require HMRC recognition and eligibility checks. Check the current registration and tax-recognition information before using older fundraising materials.

What if I collect money offline?

Agree the collection process and payment reference with WAN first. Keep receipts, arrange secure custody and record transfers. Do not double count a cash donation when it is later paid into an online page.
