# Emergency Relief
When It Matters Most

When floods or earthquakes strike Pakistan, Indonesia or Malaysia, families need food, clean water and shelter within hours — not weeks. World Aid Network funds trusted local partner organisations to respond within 48 to 72 hours of a declared disaster, delivering life-saving essentials directly to those who need them.

What we fund

## The Three Essentials

Under our charitable Objects, our emergency relief programme is restricted to three life-saving essentials for disaster-affected families.

### Safe Drinking Water

Access to clean water is the first priority after any disaster. We fund water purification, bottled water and emergency bore-hole repair for communities whose water supply has been contaminated or cut off.

### Emergency Food Rations

Food parcels containing high-nutrition non-perishable essentials — flour, pulses, oil, tinned goods — are distributed to displaced families to prevent acute food insecurity in the critical days and weeks after a disaster.

### Emergency Shelter

Waterproof tarpaulins, emergency tents and shelter-building materials protect families from exposure to the elements when their homes have been destroyed or flooded. Temporary shelter reduces the risk of disease and injury.

**What we do not fund:** Our charitable Objects restrict us to emergency food, water and shelter. Long-term reconstruction, livelihoods recovery and general medical care are outside our purposes. This restriction protects donor intent and our regulatory standing with the Charity Commission.

Our model

## How We Respond

### Standing emergency funds

Our Emergency Floods and Emergency Earthquake appeals maintain dedicated standing funds. When a disaster is declared, trustees can release funds immediately — no new campaign, no delays.

### Pre-vetted local partners

We work exclusively with trusted local partner organisations who have deep roots in the communities they serve. Partners maintain pre-positioned emergency stocks and can deploy within 48 to 72 hours of a declared disaster.

### Trustee-governed deployment

Funds are released on trustee approval following an official disaster declaration from the relevant national agency — NDMA in Pakistan, BNPB in Indonesia or NADMA in Malaysia. This governance protects donor intent.

Common questions

## Frequently Asked Questions

What does 'emergency relief' include? +

Under our charitable Objects, emergency relief covers emergency food rations, safe drinking water and temporary shelter for families displaced or made homeless by a natural disaster. It does not include long-term reconstruction, livelihoods programmes or general medical care — those are outside our purposes.

Which countries do you operate in? +

Our emergency relief programme is restricted to Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia — the three countries listed in our charitable Objects. We cannot direct funds to disaster relief outside these three countries.

How quickly do you respond after a disaster? +

Our standing emergency funds are pre-positioned with trusted local partner organisations who maintain emergency stocks in high-risk areas. This means partner teams can begin distributing food, water and shelter within 48 to 72 hours of a declared disaster — without waiting for a new fundraising campaign.

Who delivers the aid on the ground? +

World Aid Network funds trusted, pre-vetted local partner organisations who have deep roots in the communities they serve. Our partners handle logistics, distribution and community liaison. We do not run our own field teams or overseas offices.

How do I know my donation reaches those in need? +

All donations to our emergency appeals are restricted under our Objects to food, water and shelter for disaster-affected families. World Aid Network covers administrative costs from separate unrestricted funds. Once our charity registration is granted, our full financial accounts will be published on the Charity Commission register, and we release deployment reports whenever the fund is activated.

Can I give to emergency relief as a monthly donor? +

Yes — and monthly gifts are especially valuable for standing emergency funds, because they ensure the fund is continuously replenished and ready to respond at any time. You can set up a regular gift on our Donate page.
