What is the Crisis Appeal?
The Crisis Appeal is World Aid Network’s standing appeal for emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter when a crisis hits. Local partners turn your gift into a meal, a drink and a dry place to sleep. We do not rebuild homes or send cash to individuals.
A crisis can take everything that keeps a family alive before breakfast: the bed the children slept in, the well in the yard, the rice that was meant to last the week. They run with what they can carry. Then they wait. That wait is where your donation to the Crisis Appeal matters.

Why do families need a Crisis Appeal?
When a crisis hits, a family can lose the roof, the well and the food store in hours. Children need clean water. Parents need something to cook. Older people need a dry place to sleep.

When is a Crisis Appeal needed?
A Crisis Appeal is needed when families lose food, water or shelter in a sudden shock or in the weeks after, when hunger and dirty water take hold. The first things people need are the same: a meal, a drink and a roof. A standing fund means they do not wait for a new campaign.
Earthquakes give a family seconds. Floods spoil wells. Storms take homes in a night. When winter then arrives for families still in tents, displaced children face twice the mortality risk in the cold. The Crisis Appeal answers those same first needs.

How quickly will the Crisis Appeal help?
Card donations are processed straight away. Once funds are released, partners aim to start delivering food, water and shelter within forty-eight to seventy-two hours of a crisis. Cut roads and remote places can take longer. Your gift still means a family can be reached without waiting for a new fundraising drive.
Money that has already been given can move when a crisis is declared.
How can I donate to the Crisis Appeal from the UK?

Is this the same as the Hunger Crisis Appeal?
No. The Hunger Crisis Appeal is restricted to emergency food. The Crisis Appeal funds food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter together.
The Crisis Appeal, the Humanitarian Appeal and Disasters Emergency Relief all give to the same standing emergency relief fund, with the same restriction: food, safe water, hygiene supplies and temporary shelter in Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia. Choose any of them. For a gift focused on one country, use that country’s appeal.
Does the Crisis Appeal rebuild homes or fund medical care?
No. The Crisis Appeal is restricted to emergency food, clean water, hygiene kits and temporary shelter. We do not rebuild houses, send cash to individuals, or run medical clinics from these gifts. Cancer treatment and cataract surgery are separate appeals.
We never send cash to individuals. Trustees release funds to vetted local partners who buy supplies nearby. That is how the Crisis Appeal stays fast, and how donor intent is protected.
Can I send clothes or bottled water instead of donating?
A money gift to the Crisis Appeal is more useful, unless a partner has asked for a specific item in writing. Parcels from the UK usually arrive late and cost more than buying locally. A card gift on this page is the fastest way to help a family in a crisis.
